Letters from the Page

A newsletter about writing, reading, and the full, difficult, beautiful life in between

When I was a teenager, I wrote letters every week – to far-flung friends I’d met at summer camp and penpals in Australia and Africa. It’s a habit I miss and one I try to emulate with my newsletter.

When you subscribe, you'll receive a personal letter from me — not a press release, not a marketing email, but an honest dispatch from my writing life. I'll share what I'm working on, what I'm reading, what's breaking my heart and filling it back up again. You'll hear about the progress of my debut novelWhat She Left Behind, as it makes its way into the world; excerpts from my memoir, Love Needs No Language; new poems as they find their form; and the books I am pressing into people's hands.

You can expect to hear from me once or twice every month or two. I will never clutter your inbox, and you can unsubscribe any time.

Joan Flood

"Stephanie’s writing explores the complexities of women’s lives, something she does with deep understanding and compassion that doesn’t overlook the hard realities her characters face day to day."

— Joan B. Flood, author of Left Behind
